🚨💻 Microsoft Support / Hacking Scam |
||
|
Dear residents,
I want to make everyone aware of a scam that has recently been affecting people in the local area. Fraudsters are contacting individuals while pretending to be from Microsoft or “technical support.” They claim your computer has been hacked or is infected and then pressure you into giving them access or paying for fake repairs.
How this scam works: Once they gain access, they can steal information or cause further harm.
Please remember: Microsoft will never contact you out of the blue about computer problems.
How to stay safe: ✔️ Report any scam attempts to ‘Report Fraud’ website. This service is available 24/7. See below website link: UK's Home for Reporting Cyber Crime & Fraud - Report Fraud Phone reporting: Call 0300 123 2040 to report scams by phone. The service is available Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm.
We encourage everyone to stay cautious and help spread this message to friends, family, and neighbours—especially those who may be more vulnerable to these types of scams.
Remember, if a crime is in progress or a life is in danger call ‘999’ Emergency.
Non-Emergency calls can be reported via ‘101’ or via Staffordshire Police website:
Together, we can help keep our community safe.
Thanks
